Govt. Dr. W. W. Patankar Girls' PG College, Durg, is a renowned and successful educational Institute of Higher Education for girls in Chhattisgarh.

The Foundation date of College is 15/09/1982, and since then it has been exhibiting a brilliant performance for the last 38 years in academics and co-curricular activities.

Started with mere 5 girls in Hindi Bhawan Durg, the College at present, imparts higher education to about 3700 girls.

Affiliated to Hemchand Yadav University, Durg (CG), the College has been previously accredited with B++ grade in 2005 B Grade with 2.9 CGPA and B++ grade with 2.79 CGPA in 2021 by NAAC.

The College campus is spread in 10 acres of land and its infrastructure was enhanced last year with the construction of new building extension attached to the pre-existing older construction.

Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Science and Home-Science are the four academic pillars which provide balance and stability to the Academic body of the College.

College offers UG program in Arts (includes B.A. in Hindi, English, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Geography, Home Science, Music, History, Psychology, Bharat Natyam, Drawing & Painting); UG program in Science (includes B.Sc. in Mathematics, Biology, Microbiology, Computer Science); UG program in Home Science (includes B.Sc. Home Science) and UG program in Commerce includes B.Com. & B.Com. Computer Application. 

College also offers PG program in Arts (includes M.A. in Hindi, English, Economics, Sociology, Geography, Political Science and Home Science); PG program in Science (includes M.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany); PG program in Home Science (includes M.Sc. Food & Nutrition)and PG program in Commerce (includes M.Com.) and PGDCA in Computer Science to girl students while also providing them a platform to hone and develop their individual skills.

College provides the research facility to explore and develop the research potentials of girls. The College is a Registered Research Center of Hemchand Yadav University for Home Science and Hindi offers Ph.D. program in Home Science & Hindi.

The Departments of Drawing & Painting, Bharat Natyam and Music have always brought pride and laurels to the institution by winning various prizes in National and International cultural activities.

The participation of Girl students in Sports and the grand success of Colleges' Sportswomen has catapulted the College to be ranked in the top bracket at State, National and International level Sports tournaments.
